About Business & Professional Exchange (BPE)

Since 1977, Business & Professional Exchange (BPE) has been a trusted leader in 24/7 telephone answering services and messaging solutions. What started as Melrose Answering Service, founded by Joan M. Shaw in October 1976 with just a single switchboard and six clients in Melrose, MA, has grown into a state-of-the-art 65-position call center.

Our Journey and Growth

For over 45 years, we’ve continually evolved to meet the dynamic needs of businesses and professionals. Our journey began on January 28, 1976, and through two relocations—first to 414 Main Street, Melrose in 1982, and then to our current facility at 100 Cummings Center Suite 344C, Beverly, MA in 1999—we’ve expanded our reach and capabilities. While we initially focused on serving the medical profession, our services now extend to nearly every type of business, profession, and service company imaginable, from home health care agencies to municipal utilities.

In the summer of 2006, we proudly expanded our service area to include companies nationwide, building on our strong foundation in Eastern Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, and Northern Rhode Island.
